Why It Matters: Regular exercise can significantly improve insulin sensitivity, weight management, energy levels, and overall health outcomes for people with diabetes.
The Effects of Exercise on Diabetes Management:
- Improved Insulin Sensitivity: Exercise enhances the body's ability to use insulin effectively, helping to lower blood glucose levels.
- Lower Blood Sugar Levels: Both aerobic and resistance training can contribute to more stable glucose levels throughout the day.
- Weight Control: Physical activity aids in burning calories and reducing visceral fat, which is especially important for managing Type 2 Diabetes.
- Heart and Circulatory Health: Regular movement improves cardiovascular function and reduces risk factors associated with diabetes such as hypertension and high cholesterol.
- Better Mood and Energy: Exercise supports mental health, reduces fatigue, and improves overall quality of life for individuals with chronic conditions.
- Prevention of Complications: Consistent exercise reduces the risk of complications like neuropathy, foot ulcers, and kidney disease over time.
